The Maccabi Haifa Professional Basketball Club announced the signing of Israeli-American point guard David Cohn to a 2-year deal through the 2020-21 Season.
Cohn, 24, played the 2018-19 season for Hapoel Eilat in Israel’s Winner League. The 6-foot-2 guard provided valuable minutes off the bench while helping Hapoel Eilat to reach the Final Four. Cohn, known for his basketball IQ and ability to elevate his teammates’ performance, is returning to Israel for his second professional season.
“David is a good basketball player and emphasizes our commitment to supporting naturalized citizens of Israel” said Team Owner, Jeffrey Rosen.
“We are happy to have David join our team. He’s a very good young player and we look forward to having him develop and contribute this season,” said Head Coach, Daniel Seoane.
Cohn, a native of Chicago, USA, is an alumnus of The College of William & Mary. In 2017-18, Cohn averaged 14.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, 6.7 assists, and nearly 2 steals per game while shooting 60% from the field, including 43.6% from deep, and over 90% from the free-throw line. Cohn finished his senior campaign being named to the All-Colonial Athletic Association 3rd Team. He becomes the second naturalized Israeli on Maccabi Haifa’s roster, joining team captain Willy Workman.
