Maccabi to participate in 2nd Annual Charity Game against St. Thomas University in Miami to raise donations for underprivileged youth in Israel

PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. — August 13, 2018 — The Maccabi Haifa Israeli professional basketball team today announced they will embark on their annual NBA tour in the United States against the Sacramento Kings at the Golden 1 Center on Monday, October 8 at 7:00 p.m. PDT (Tuesday, October 9 at 5:00 a.m. Israeli local time) and the LA Clippers at STAPLES Center on Thursday, October 11 at 7:30 p.m. PDT (Friday, October 12 at 5:30 a.m. Israeli local time).

Prior to the contests against the Kings and Clippers, Maccabi Haifa will travel to Miami to participate in the 2nd Annual Haifa Hoops Charity Basketball Game on Sunday, September 30 at 2:00 p.m. Eastern Time against St. Thomas University at the Fernandez Family Center located on their campus. The proceeds from the game will go towards Maccabi Haifa’s charity program, “Haifa Hoops for Kids”, a joint initiative between Maccabi Haifa and the Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest New Jersey, which has hosted over 33,000 underprivileged and special needs children in Israel at Maccabi Haifa home games.

Maccabi Haifa’s trip to the United States will mark the eighth time in nine years the team will travel to North America to play against NBA competition, and the third time in five seasons in which they will play the Sacramento Kings. Maccabi Haifa most recently played against Sacramento on October 10, 2016 in the first game ever played at the Golden 1 Center. The Greens rank second all-time among international basketball teams in games played against NBA opponents (16).

“It’s an honor for Maccabi Haifa to once again play against the world’s best competition,” said Jeff Rosen, team owner of Maccabi Haifa. “I’d like to give special thanks to St. Thomas University, whom will graciously host our 2nd annual Haifa Hoops Charity Game.”
