PREVIEW: Maccabi vs. Ness Ziona

Maccabi Hunter Haifa (9-20) will host Ness Ziona (12-17) in a Friday afternoon contest at Romema Arena in the 29th Round of the Winner League. Tip-off is scheduled for 16:00.

Peleg’s squad will look to match a season-high three-game winning streak when they take on eighth place Ness Ziona, which has also won their last contest.

Maccabi Hunter Haifa announced the team will register the following import players for the upcoming game against Ness Ziona: Brandon Bowman, Angel Rodriguez, Trevor Gaskins, Reggie Buckner and Zach Graham. Trahson Burrell will not be registered for the game.

Maccabi earned their second straight victory with an 92-79 win over Rishon Lezion on the road on Monday. Dagan Yivzori scored 18 points off the bench to jumpstart the Greens, and Angel Rodriguez scored 15 of his 31 points in the fourth quarter to seal the win. With four games remaining in the regular season, the Greens are one game out of the loss column behind Ironi Nahariya (10-19) and Bnei Herzliya (10-19), both teams play on Thursday evening.

Ness Ziona report

Nadav Zilberstein’s squad recorded another impressive performance on Sunday, leading by more than 30 points en route to a 104-93 win against Bnei Herzliya. Ness Ziona reached the 100+ points mark for the second time in the last three games. Ness Ziona enjoyed a fantastic shooting night from beyond the arc, and solid contributions from all four foreigners, led by Gary Brown-Ramirez with 29 points.

Daequen Cook, who scored 21 points in Ness Ziona’s last game, will not play against Maccabi Hunter Haifa on Friday. Forward Evan Yates will make his debut for Ness Ziona.

Recent History

In the 3rd Round (the second game of the season), the Greens won a thrilling overtime contest over Ness Ziona at Romema. With 1.2 seconds left in regulation, Brandon Bowman drained an improbable, desperation 3-pointer at the buzzer to force overtime. The Greens pulled away in the extra period en route to their first win of the season, 89-85. Bowman finished with a season-high 32 points, Angel Rodriguez added 20 points and 7 assists to go along with 4 rebounds and 4 steals. Willy Workman recorded 15 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists in the victory.

The Greens lost a tough one against Ness Ziona on the road in Round 14. Maccabi led throughout a majority of the contest, but Ness Ziona pulled ahead in the fourth quarter to down the Greens, 74-71. Zach Graham led Haifa with 18 points and 3 rebounds, while Reggie Buckner recorded a double-double on 11 points and 12 boards in the loss.
