The Maccabi Hunter Haifa professional basketball team of the Israeli Basketball Super League announced today that the team has signed forward Willy Workman to a three-year contract extension through the 2020-21 season. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not announced.
“Willy is the heart and soul of our Maccabi Haifa organization. His namesake describes his character perfectly — a Workman. Willy’s competitive attitude on the court and his commitment to the community off the court is something we admire. We’re excited Willy will continue his rising career as a member of Maccabi Haifa,” said Maccabi Hunter Haifa team owner Jeff Rosen.
“I’m very excited to be back in Green for the next three seasons. This is the first time I’ve stayed at a club for more than one season. I really feel like I’ve found a home here. I’m excited to set up shop and be here for a long time,” said Workman.
Workman, who is fifth in the league in rebounds among Israeli players, is averaging career-highs in points (8.9), rebounds (6.0), assists (1.8), and minutes played (28.3) in his second season with Maccabi Haifa and his fourth season overall in the Israel Premier League. He was selected to play for the Israeli team in this year’s Winner League All-Star Game.
Workman is the fourth Israeli player under contract for next season, joining Dagan Yivzori, Daniel Koperberg and Netanel Artzi.
