On Wednesday afternoon, Maccabi Hunter Haifa visited the Hoshaya settlement at the town’s new arena to run an open clinic for children as part of Toto-Winner’s “Toto for the Sports in Israel”.

Each of the Green players divided the children into different stations to run basketball basics such as dribbling, passing, correcting shots, boxing out and more. The Greens then put on a show as they held a scrimmage with the local boys’ group.

Daniel Koperberg was very impressive when he threw down some thunderous dunks and also showed a soft touch beyond the three-point arch. Oz Blayzer, Dagan Yivzori and Gal Baruch were amazing at making trick shots from 30 feet or more.  But the one who stole the show was Willy Workman, who was a big hit with the children.  After the game, the children of Hoshaya the players took photographs and received autographed postcards.

“It was an amazing activity,” said coach Offer Rahimi. “For me, this is a special event because I started to train at neighboring Kibbutz Lavi, and to this day, I am in touch with the players who have now become parents. As a resident of the region, I am always happy to reach out to the communities of the valley.“

“It is always fun to give back to the community and to make the children happy,” added Captain Oz Blayzer. “These events are very important in strengthening the team’s connection to the community and I always enjoy them.”
