This afternoon (Wednesday), 15 youth from Hashalom After-School Program in Migdal Ha’Emek came to visit Maccabi Hunter Haifa’s practice at Romema Arena.

The Hashalom After-School Program is a warm home for first to sixth-grade children, who come from unprivileged families from Migdal Ha’Emek, and work daily after school, until the late evening. During their time in the After-School Program, the kids enjoy different activities, a hot meal and help with their homework.

Maccabi’s sponsor, Flex, adopted the After-School Program 12 years ago and their workers and managers volunteer all-year long and donate equipment, toys and more.

“As a sponsor of Maccabi Haifa, it’s important for us to connect different people to sports,” Kobi Zurich from Flex, who joined the visit, said. “The kids who came here feel special and it’s truly a once in a lifetime experience for them.”

The children, with their guides, arrived in the middle of the practice, then joined the Greens for a talk with the players after practice and enjoyed a few plays on the court.

“We are going to a lot of community activities, but today it was nice that the kids came to us to Romema and had a great time,” young center, Daniel Koperberg, who played with the kids after practice.
