The former Green shooting guard returns for his second stint with Maccabi
Maccabi Hunter Haifa, the 2016-17 Israeli Super League Runner-Up, announced today that have agreed to terms with shooting guard Dagan Yivzori through the 2019-20 season.
“It’s great to have Dagan back in Green, where he played his best basketball,” said Maccabi Hunter Haifa owner Jeff Rosen. “As we continue our record-setting season ticket sales pace, it was essential for us to bring back Doogie who is a fan favorite and a soul player.”
“I am very excited to come back to a place that I love so much and feel so connected to,” Yivzori said. “I hope to help the team and continue the high achievements over the past several years. Yarok Ole.”
“I am very happy to see Dagan back in Green,” said Maccabi Hunter Haifa head coach Offer Rahimi. “He is a talented player and a unique person. I am sure he will help our team on and off the court.”
Yivzori, 31, appeared in 14 regular season games last season, beginning with Maccabi Tel Aviv and later moved to Hapoel Holon before suffering a season ending injury.
The 6-foot-4 shooting guard has accumulated 1,945 career points with 5 teams over 10 professional seasons in the Winner League. The former Maccabi Haifa captain played two seasons with the Greens from 2013-15, helping guide the team to a 2013-14 Israeli League Finals appearance where he was named Israeli League Playoffs MVP. During the 2014-15 season, Yivzori averaged career-highs in points per game (12.2), assists per game (3.8), and steals per game (2.0) in 33 regular season games.
