The Maccabi Hunter Haifa professional basketball team of the Israeli Basketball Super League announced today that they have released power forward Tony Mitchell.
Mitchell, 24, appeared in 17 contests (14 starts) for the Greens and averaged 10.7 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.1 blocks in 23.1 minutes per game.
Originally selected by the Detroit Pistons with 37th overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft, Mitchell appeared in 21 games with the Pistons in 2013-14, averaging 1.0 points and 1.2 rebounds in 3.8 minutes per game.
A native of Dallas, Texas, Mitchell played two seasons for the North Texas Mean Green from 2011-13 before turning pro in 2013. He owns the school record for most blocks in a season (87) and career blocks (157) in just two seasons.
