Maccabi Hunter Haifa (7-9) host Hapoel Holon (11-5) on Wednesday at Romema. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:45 p.m. The Greens will honor their former player, Alex Chubrevich, prior to the game.

Coming back home

The Greens finished their two game road trip with a win over Gilboa/Galil (94-73) and a tight loss to Nahariya (83-73).  After both Amit Simhon and Oz Blayzer set new career marks at Galil, Simhon (18 points and 6 rebounds) and Blayzer (16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists), led the Greens in scoring once again at Nahariya.

“Holon is a top team in the league, and they got even stronger since the last time we played them,” Greens head coach, Offer Rahimi, said. “We will have to be focused and execute our game plan, in order to win the game.”

Keys To Victory

The two most important stats that have determined Maccabi Hunter Haifa’s outcome are 3-point percentage (43% in wins and 32% in losses) and ball distribution (19.1 assists in wins comparing to 14.4 in losses). On top of that, when the Greens win, they explode offensively, averaging 89.7 points in wins to only 76.8 points in losses.

“We had a little set back against Nahariya,” Tony Mithcell said. “We just want to win the game for our fans, as well as for us. It’s should be a good game and we are ready for it.”

Holon with the momentum

Hapoel Holon is coming to Romema as the second best team in the league. After suffering losses to Nahariya and Maccabi Tel Aviv, they registered two road wins over Ashdod and Jerusalem. Khalif Wyatt is still one of the hottest players in the league, posting averages of 20.0 points and 4.4 assists in 32.8 minutes per game.

The Greens’ former center, Alex Chubrevich recorded his best game in a Holon uniform, posting a double-double on 13 points and 10 rebounds in the victory against Jerusalem.  Former Haifa captain, Dagan Yivzori, has played 3 games for Holon and is averaging 4 points and 3 assists.  Besides Yivzori, Dan Shamir’s team also signed Jordan Taylor, who in four games, is averaging 10.5 points, 3.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists.
