On Sunday evening, June 21st 2015, a ceremony will be held and the new Romema Sport Arena will be named: RK Arena
A contract between the Municipality of Haifa and Raanan Katz was signed this week for the naming rights of Romema, which will now be named RK Arena.
In the sponsorship agreement, it has been agreed that Raanan Katz will have the rights over the arena’s name, and will transfer an annual fee to the Municipality of Haifa. The city will invest the money in the city’s sports infrastructures.
After the contract between Raanan Katz and mayor Yon Yahav was signed, last weekend, Jeff Rosen, the owner and chairman of Maccabi Bazan Haifa said:
“Raanan Katz’s contribution to the game of Israeli basketball can be seen throughout the league. We are honored and proud to have Maccabi Haifa’s home court be named RK Arena. From Miami to Israel, Raanan’s presence is felt and we are grateful for his support to the city of Haifa as well as Maccabi Haifa. We want to thank Raanan and Mayor Yona Yahav, as well as our impeccable team, Vice Chairman Arnon Shiran and Counsel Miki Safran for making this come to fruition.”
Mayor Yona Yahav said: “I have decided to take the name of our new sports arena an auction and I am glad that a man like Raanan Katz won it. Haifa set itself as the sports capital of Israel. We are proud of our great and modern facilities and glad that wealthy people are willing to give sponsorship and donations to the city and its residents.”
