Tied with 4 teams with an identical 10-13 record, Maccabi Bazan Haifa hosts Maccabi Rishon Lezion (12-11) tomorrow at 6:50 at Romema in the 24th game of the Israeli Super League. The Greens are seeking their third consecutive victory after wins over Nahariya at Romema, and against Hapoel Tel Aviv at Drive In Arena.

The game against Hapoel Tel Aviv was close throughout the game, but in the fourth quarter, the Greens left the Reds in the dust, notching a 93-83 victory on the road. Five players for Maccabi scored in double figures, with Rougeau and Ofoegbu tallying 20 points each.  Dagan Yivzori was the one who awarded MVP, after he scored 18 points in the win.

“In the situation we are in, each game is very important and can decide if we will be at the playoffs or not,” said Captain Dagan Yivzori.  “This is why the game against Rishon is so important, especially when we are coming in with positive momentum and want to keep it going.”

Over the last two games, Moran Roth has played very well.  Against Hapoel he chipped in 13 points and 8 assists, including a money-time shot from downtown. The Greens’ offense has been a surprise, crossing the 100 point mark for the first time this season with 101 points, and they were not far from doing it against with 93 points against Hapoel Tel Aviv.

“We want to continue our momentum from our last two victories. At our home gym we want to win every game”.

Unlike the Greens who won two games in a row, Rishon comes into the game after two straight losses; to Maccabi Tel Aviv and Bnei Herzeliya. In the last game, Druker’s team struggled to find the rim for three quarters (scoring 49 points in the first three quarters) and didn’t have the answer for the athletic offense of Herzeliya. Two players who dominated were Dominique Johnson and the center Jackie Carmichael, who had 16 points each.

The Greens’ former center Jeremis Smith was not part of the roster for Herzeliya, but is averaging 10.6 points and 5.1 rebounds per game.  Israeli point guard Nizan Hanochi scored 13 points and had 5 assists against Herzeliya, but Shawn Dowson scored only 2 points in the 23 minutes he played.
