The Maccabi Haifa Professional Basketball Club announced the signing of American center Eric Anderson for the 2019-20 Season.
Anderson, 26, played the 2018-19 season for Obras Basket in Argentina’s La Liga. The 6-foot-9 forward averaged 14.5 points, 8.9 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks per game while shooting 55% from the field. Anderson, known for his basketball IQ and shot blocking, is entering his 5th professional season.
In Argentina’s Torneo Super 20, Anderson helped lead his team to the semifinals. While averaging, 13.2 points and 9 rebounds, Anderson led all players with 2.1 blocks per game and shot over 60% from the field.
“Eric is a tough and intelligent big man,” said Team Owner, Jeffrey Rosen. “His understanding of the game and presence on both the offensive and defensive ends embody the Maccabi Haifa spirit.”
“Eric brings excellent character and interior dominance to the team. We’re excited to have him in Haifa,” said Head Coach, Daniel Seoane.
Anderson, a native of Newark, New Jersey, played his college ball at the University of New Haven, where he won three All-Northeast-10 Defensive Player of the Year awards. He has played professionally in Argentina, Germany, Japan, and Luxembourg. Anderson has averaged at least 1 block per game with each one of his professional clubs.
