Despite defeating Gilboa/Galil in the Greens’ last game, for the first time in 10 years, Maccabi Hunter Haifa will be relegated to Israel’s second division after Nahariya’s last-second win over Ashdod. Holon comes into the contest blazing with five consecutive wins.
The Greens came out great in the second half, scoring 27 points in 10 minutes to build a promising lead 75-69 going into the final period. In the last ten minutes, Maccabi surged with 30 points to score a season-high in a 105-84 win. Barak Peleg: “We are going to fight throughout the game against Holon. We have a lot of pride as players and coaches, and we have great respect for our fans, the city and the club.”
Holon’s victory over Herzliya in the last game was their fifth straight, as they claimed first place in the league. Four players on the team are averaging in double-figures — Jordan Hamilton leads the team with 20.4 points, 8.0 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game. The leading Israeli is Joe Alexander, who is averaging 14.0 points in 27.9 minutes per game.
