Maccabi Hunter Haifa (9-22) will travel to face Gilboa/Galil (16-15) on Thursday in the 32nd Round of the Israeli Winner League. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.

Maccabi and Gilboa/Galil met earlier this season at Gan Ner with the Reds holding the upper hand. Gilboa/Galil comes into the contest after notching three consecutive losses.

The Greens are fighting for their place in the league but they are no longer dependent on themselves. Maccabi will have to win their two remaining games, against Gilboa/Galil on road and Hapoel Holon at home, and hope for two losses from Ironi Nahariya against Maccabi Ashdod on road and Hapoel Tel Aviv at home.

Last Game

In the last game, Maccabi players traveled to Bnei Herzelia and suffered their second straight loss, 78-64. The Greens trailed by 15 points in the first half, but managed to trim the lead to just two points, 60-58, midway through the fourth qaurter. Haifa’s momentum faded and the Blues from Herzliya took advantage of the weak shooting night of the Greens – using a 10-0 run to seal a victory and assuring their spot in the Premier League next season. Oz Blayzer and Brandon Bowman paced the Greens with 10 points apiece, while Angel Rodriguez (5 assists) and Dagan Yivzori scored 9 points each in the loss.

Quotable

Barak Peleg: “We all understand the importance of the game and we are focused only on it. Gilboa/Galil is a strong and well-coach team so we have to get concentrated, fight throughout the game and stay united.”

Gilboa/Galil report

Gilboa/Galil were handed their third straight loss in their last game against Hapoel Tel Aviv. Zach LeDay recorded an outstanding game with 30 points and 12 rebounds, Jacorey Williams scored 16 points on an excellent shooting percentage from the field.

In the previous meeting between the Greens and the Reds, Maccabi defeated Gilboa/Galil, 98-95, in Round 21 at Romema. Captain Oz Blayzer paced Maccabi with a season-high 25 points on a perfect shooting night – 6-for-6 from the field and 9-for-9 from the line.
