Maccabi Hunter Haifa (6-13) will travel to face Bnei Herzliya (7-12) on Monday in the 20th Round of the Israeli Winner League.  Tip-off is scheduled for 8:15 p.m.

Maccabi and Bnei Herzliya met earlier this season at Romema with the Greens holding the upper hand. Herzliya comes into the contest with positive momentum after notching two consecutive wins over Hapoel Jerusalem and Gilboa Galil.

Uphill Climb

After the loss at home to Hapoel Eilat in the last round, the Greens dropped to last place in the standings. Despite Maccabi’s daunting position, there is a bright light at the end of the tunnel — they’re only two points out of 8th place. Offer Rahimi and his team understand that a victory over Herzliya is crucial — signifying a win in the season series, which would provide a significant advantage down the stretch.

Recent History

Maccabi has won their two previous meetings against Herzliya. In the 13th round of the 2016-17 season, the Blues came to Romema, and were handed a beatdown by Maccabi in a 99-65 blowout. Willy Workman and Oz Blayzer (6 rebounds) excelled with 13 points apiece.

In the 9th round of this season on December 13, Maccabi recorded an 86-72 victory at Romema.  Brandon Bowman paced the Greens with a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds in the win.

Quotables

Offer Rahimi: “Herzliya has been performing well in recent weeks, everyone understands the importance of the game.  We must be aggressive and shoot the ball accurately, so we can return home with the victory.”

Dagan Yivzori: “We understand our situation and we know that we need to change it now. Tomorrow, we will face a good team, so we have to come focused and ready to fight throughout the entire game.”

Bnei Herzliya Report

Herzliya recorded their third consecutive road victory after last round’s win over Gilboa Galil. The Blues climbed above the red line thanks to an impressive career record by Tom Maayan, who scored 14 points in the third quarter to help secure a 94-83 win over Hapoel Gilboa Galil at Gen Ner.  Shawn Dawson tallied 21 points and 7 rebounds, and Jeff Adrien dropped 20 points and 12 rebounds in the win for Herzliya.
