Maccabi Hunter Haifa (4-12) will host Ironi Nahariya (7-9) on Sunday at Romema Arena in the 17th round of the Winner League. Tip-off is scheduled for 20:30 and will be broadcast on Sport5.
The Greens will do everything possible on Sunday to avoid a ninth consecutive loss among all competitions. On the other side, Nahariya comes to Romema after a dramatic victory over Gilboa Galil last week – raising their position to 8th place in the standings.
Maccabi’s “Family” Theme Night features a special Family tickets deal, fun in-game promotions and a very exciting surprise for the players. Also, fans will get to enjoy a live performance of the 2-time defending champion Maccabi Haifa cheerleaders during a special halftime show.
Offer Rahimi’s players have lost seven straight Winner league games — dropping to last place in the standings. The teams’ overall mindset is focused on one theme…Just win.
“Only a win. That’s the only option,” said Willy Workman before the game. “We’ve talked enough. Be a winner or get forgotten…that’s basketball.”
In order to put themselves in good position to do so, they’ll need to prevent a poor start like last game against Hapoel Holon. The Greens fell behind early, and despite rallying at the end, it was not enough to win, as they eventually fell, 81-74. Angel Rodriguez recorded 13 points and 5 assists, but committed 7 turnovers. The Greens will have to protect the rock against Nahariya and find a way to make regain their stroke from 3-point range.
“Beyond the great importance of the game, we come to play for the fans,” said Ofer Rahimi. “We’ll give it all on Sunday.”
Arik Alfasi’s team earned a dramatic victory, 101-97, last week against Gilboa Galil. Three Nahariya players are averaging impressive statistics this season; Alex Young (18.1 points and 5.8 rebounds), Corey Webster (15.8 points and 3.6 assists) and Jonathan Skjoldebrand (11.1 points on 55.6 percent from 3-PT range).
