Maccabi Hunter Haifa (4-9) will travel to face Ness Ziona (4-9) on Monday in the 14th Round of the Israeli Winner League. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:45 p.m. Maccabi and Ness Ziona met previously in the first round at Romema in an instant classic. The Greens won in overtime after Brandon Bowman knocked down an improbable buzzer-beater triple to send the game into the extra period.
Last week’s loss at home to Maccabi Ashdod extended the Green’s losing streak to five games (among all competitions). Offer Rahimi and his team know that this game is essentially a must win. Both teams share the same record in the standings, and if Maccabi earns their second win over Ness Ziona, they win the season series, which could be a critical advantage later in the season.
Last season, Ness Ziona played in the second division, so it’s been almost two years since the Greens have visited their arena. In the 20th game of the 2015-16 season, the Greens arrived to Ness Ziona and won a double overtime thriller, 104-103. A month later, the Greens defeated Ness Ziona, 73-63. Those two-games snapped a 5-game losing streak at Ness Ziona’s gym and were the first road wins over the Oranges ever.
Oz Blayzer: “We understand our situation and we know we need to turn it around now. We have to make the extra effort on the court in order to help the team win.”
